Positive Data Releases to Drive JCI Rally

Positive Data Releases to Drive JCI Rally
(TRIBUNEKOMPAS, JAKARTA) - Domestic stock exchanges are likely to strengthen following Indonesia's positive economic data release early this month. The February trade balance—predicted at a surplus of US$760 million—and the March inflation that stood at 0.1 percent are expected to urge investors to buy. Another thing that also has the potential to sustain the Jakarta Composite Index's (JCI) rate is the positive sentiments from the general elections. The amount of money used by politicians during the election season is expected to positively affect the performances of listed companies in the consumers, media and finance sectors. Stock market observer Agustini Hamid believes the JCI will continue to rally if Indonesia's economic data improves as the market expected. In addition to building the market's perception of a stable economic growth, improved data will nourish the market's optimism over future economic performances, and "serve as a positive catalyst that drives the index up," he said. The JCI gain will also be supported by issuers' plan to payout dividends. The prospect of sizeable dividends is prompting domestic investors to collect stocks of dividend-paying issuers. According to Agustini, investors can still consider buying stocks from the financial sector, such as Bank BRI and Bank Jabar Banten. With a technical rebound and expectations over an unchanged interest rate benchmark (BI Rate), stocks from the financial sector are likely to gain further. Today, Agustini predicted the index to move strong between 4,760 and 4,820./By: Tommy.

Andi Mallarangeng Persilakan KPK Usut Adiknya

JAKARTA, TRIBUNEKOMPAS.
By: Anto.
